The Coastal Dance Festival returns to the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC from March 4-6th marking its first appearance at the venue in six years following seismic upgrades.

Presented by Dancers of Damelahamid, the festival will showcase Indigenous stories, song, and dance, featuring both ancestral and contemporary performances. Highlights include a youth-focused collaboration between Raven Spirit Youth Dancers (Vancouver) and Wagana (Australia) and a site-specific installation, Ko Te Ākau, by New Zealand artist Charles Koroneho, in collaboration with Montreal poet Natasha Kanapé Fontaine.

The festival’s MOA programming will feature all-ages matinees, evening performances, and an artist-sharing series, with appearances by Xwelmexw Shxwexwo:s, Spakwus Slolem, Laura Grizzlypaws, and more. “After a long absence, we are thrilled to return to our original home,” said Margaret Grenier, Festival Executive & Artistic Director.

The Coastal Dance Festival continues to honor Indigenous traditions and innovation, providing a dynamic platform for intergenerational storytelling and artistic exchange.
