Kitsilano is abuzz with plans for one of its largest redevelopment projects yet.

According to Kenneth Chan of Daily Hive’s Urbanized, InterRent Real Estate Investment Trust and Crestpoint Real Estate Investments are proposing a bold transformation for 2244-2280 West 6th Avenue under the City of Vancouver’s Broadway Plan.

Currently home to two three-storey buildings from the late 1960s and early 1970s, the site—spanning nearly an entire city block near the Yew Street and West 6th Avenue intersection—will be redeveloped into two 21-storey towers rising to 219 feet.

If approved, the project will add 416 secure rental homes, a net increase of 327 units, featuring a mix of 333 market and 83 below-market options. Notably, 40 per cent of these new homes are designed for families, with layouts ranging from studios to three-bedroom units.

The proposal also promises a wealth of shared amenities. Residents could enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces, including hot and cold tubs, a dog garden, multi-sport courts, an exercise deck, children’s playground, and even private work pods and meeting rooms. Architecturally, the development stands out with its uniquely angled residential balconies, designed to create a dynamic sense of movement.

Conveniently located about an eight-minute walk from the future SkyTrain Arbutus Station and the 99 B-Line bus exchange, this project is poised to significantly reshape Kitsilano’s urban landscape.
