Vancouver police arrested three suspects this week after a major theft at the Arc’teryx store in Kitsilano.
The incident took place Monday evening at the popular outdoor apparel store near West 4th Avenue and Yew Street. According to Vancouver Police Department, masked individuals made off with over $22,000 worth of merchandise before officers—thanks to quick action from a store employee who called 911—tracked down the suspects. One of those arrested was also wanted in connection with a separate theft.
“The stolen property was recovered before it could be sold,” VPD said in a social media post.
This isn’t the first time the Arc’teryx location has been targeted. In January 2024, two people bear-sprayed the store before fleeing with approximately $25,000 in goods. Authorities were able to locate suspects in that case as well.
The latest incident comes just as Vancouver City Council voted to establish a Retail Security Task Force. The new initiative will work with local businesses to explore the root causes of retail crime and is expected to deliver its first report to council in the coming months.
