Trafalgars Bistro

After a visit from my parents last month, we were blessed with the help of my in-laws for part of this month. Which meant more lunches. We managed to get some fantastic lunches in at Browns, Moderne Burger, and Fuel. But our favourite? The two lunches – one with my parents and one with my wife’s – we had at Trafalgars Bistro (2603 West 16th @ Trafalgar).

I’m sure lots of people know about Trafalgars (it was very busy on both the weekdays that we went), but it feels like such a hidden gem. We’d been there for dinner once when we first arrived in Vancouver and really liked it. For some reason we had never made it back until now.

The lunch menu has some great options like the lamb burger and moule et frites, but our favourite dish was hands down the poached egg and hollandaise on a potato latke. The latke is simply amazing and goes extremely well with the bacon and egg. Think benny on a giant tater tot.

And whatever you do, make sure to save room for desert. The desert menu sports every single cake from next door’s Sweet Obsession, optionally paired with a desert wine. And if you’re too stuffed, just pop in next door and take a piece home for later.
