The organizers of the Canadian Blog Awards have announced the winner of the Best Local Blog category and Kitsilano.ca came in 4th place with 10.6% of the vote.
This year’s local blog award for first goes to Ottawa’s Knitnut with nearly half of the popular vote. And this category was no lightweight! 745 votes were cast in the finals and 32 blogs nominated for contention. Second and third go to Windsor blogs, which apparently has a very vibrant blogging community. Fourth goes to the trendy Kitsilano area of Vancouver, while fifth is based out of Milton, Ontario. International Metropolis and Windsor Eats were also finalists in 2007. Congratulations to a strong showing from all participants.
We’re pretty happy with the results and only wished we had more voters to draw from.
The winning blog came from Ottawa – a city with a population of 1,168,788 – and received 358 votes. One vote for every 3,265 Ottawa residents.
The population of Kitsilano is 24,862 and we received 78 votes. One vote for every 318 Kitsilano residents.

Congrats, Rob – well done!
Awesome, congrats! Way to represent not only your neighbourhood but also the West Coast on a list that’s usually dominated by Ontario sites.
Fantastic! You’ve put us on the national map. And there are many, many more visitors who appreciate what you do but didn’t happen to vote.
congratulations! I’ve been reading this blog for a while and it’s nice to see it recognized!
