See your favorite big screen stars on an even bigger screen as this Sunday’s Academy Awards are projected on the planetarium’s large screen at the H.R. Macmillan Space Centre. Event organizer Randy Vannetter told Metro Vancouver that people will be able to watch the Oscars on a more than 10 metre section of the overhead screen while mingling with fellow film buffs.
“We have also asked the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television to send out word to all of the film industry members as well as the Actors Guild,” Vannatter said. “They are endorsing it in terms of people in the film industry congregating together towards the awards show.”
“Watching the awards on one of the largest screens in Vancouver is an experience on its own,” Vannatter added. “It’s quite cool and quite unique and we’re hoping to make it an annual event.”
Guests will be served a three-course steak dinner, handed a swag-bag, and an Oscar contest will be held to see who can predict the most winners.
