Tosh Hyodo, a former financial adviser and Kitsilano resident who spends time at the Occupy Vancouver protest that began Oct. 15, at the Vancouver Art Gallery, spoke to Vancouver Sun reporter Evan Duggan about the protest demographics. While Occupy Vancouver’s tent city was initially mostly Generation Y demonstrators, the demographics have evolved. Hyodo says that there are now 80 long term dwellers camped out in tent city. First nations occupiers have shored up the movement. In addition to strong first nations support, Vancouver’s homeless population have gravitated toward the camp for food and shelter.
