Just in time for Remembrance Day, the woman who wants Mayor Gregor Robertson’s job says she’d offer temporary property tax relief for Vancouver Legions. According to NEWS 1130 the NPA’s Suzanne Anton says it’s part of her plan to help out veterans’ associations.

Ted Ross, a past treasurer at the Billy Bishop Legion in Kitsilano, says that kind of assistance is desperately needed. “Our tax bill is about $17,000 to $18,000 a year. We are a marginal operation like most Legions are. The property taxes are one of the biggest bills that have to be paid,” he points out. “My understanding is that the City of Vancouver is the only municipality that doesn’t give some degree of relief on property taxes,” he adds.
