For those who don’t yet have families, or haven’t dropped by a baby store in the last decade, baby gifts can really stump you. So if you’re still on the hunt for that perfect present for a new family, consider picking up something in the neighbourhood that is locally made. Here are my top three picks.
1. My Monkey Moo Stroller Blankets, $65 at Crocodile Baby
These blankets are awesome! One side of the blanket is an incredibly cozy fur like texture while the other is covered in hip fabric. Designed and manufactured right here in Vancouver, they make an excellent gift.

2. Wishing Owl, from $25 at Pebble Baby
Made by hand in Vancouver using recycled, re-used and vintage fabrics, no two wishing owls are exactly the same. The owls are a great size for an infant soft toy and when they are older, they can take advantage of the small pocket designed to hide secrets, wishes and dreams.
Pebble Baby, 604-568-6923, 2675 Arbutus Street, Pebblebaby.com
3. Hooded Towels, $35 at Craftworks
Bathing an infant is always an adventure. Keeping the baby’s head warm after the bath is no longer a challenge thanks to adorable hooded towels made in Vancouver by adults with disabilities. I love the one that makes my son look like a duck.
