Escents Aromatherapy, founded by Vancouverite Jacqui MacNeill in 1992, recently opened its ninth location at W 4th and Yew. Filled with essential oils, bath products, and other aroma products, they offer steep competition for Saje Natural Wellness, Vancouver-owned with 18 locations worldwide, which is just down the street.
I love natural products and all things (pleasantly) smelly, but am not sure the same block can support two aromatherapy stores. What are your thoughts?

I stay out of those places ever since almost losing consciousness in one up on Broadway-there was far too much scent and not enough O2-the polluted river of air along Broadway never smelled so sweet as I stumbled out the door.
It’s the staff in those places I wonder about-they can’t be healthy places to work.
Hi Janelle,
I’m the new director of marketing for Escents Aromatherapy. Thanks for posting about our new 4th ave location – we’re very excited to join such a vibrant community! We now have a total of 55 locations world wide.
To Bill’s comment – I’m sorry to hear he had a negative experience. People can have individual reactions to things whether they are natural or not. It happens sometimes but is always unfortunate. I can assure you that all our team members are healthy – we take their well being very seriously. Wellness is integral to our core values.
Bill – please let me know if you’d ever like to revisit one of our stores, I’d love to help change your mind about aromatherapy.
