According to the New York Times, the top new years resolution in 2012 is, not surprisingly, to get into shape. After having a baby and spending a month where cookies were a food group and pie was a perfectly acceptable breakfast, I too resolve to move a little more and eat a little less.
After taking part in a free class on Tuesday, I have joined a mom and baby boot camp at the Kitsilano Community Centre. If you are also looking to get into shape in 2012, registration for winter classes is currently taking place. Consider checking out some of the other free trial classes offered now at the Kitsilano Community Centre before you register. Free trial classes include:
Callanetics – tone and lift muscles fast and you leave feeling great!
Free trial class Jan 9, 8:00-9:00pm.
Afro’Robics – Aerobic fitness, blending the richness of African dance and music with traditional history and culture to create a fun and exciting workout! Free trial class Jan 11, 5:45-6:45pm.
See the full schedule on the KCC site.
If classes are not your thing, most gyms in the neighbourhood including Fitness World, She’s Fit and Just Ladies also offer free trial passes for a day or even a week if you ask. But if saving money is also on your resolution list, then consider yourself lucky to live in Kits where a run on the seawall is also a great way to start the day.

Too bad I live too far from Kits. Love it that more places are finding ways to incorporate dance into fitness…makes it more fun. And, fun is what keeps us with it. I am doing a 100 day challenge.
