I was poking around on the new Kijiji site and came across a listing for the Kitsilano Crime Prevention Office. They’ve been involved in the communtiy for over 5 years and help local residents, merchants and businesses, and visitors to the Kitsilano area. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Volunteers are trained and ready to assist with a wide variety of concerns: providing information on how to protect yourself and your property; offering referrals to agencies and organizations with available resources; participating in local events; getting involved with community patrols and neighbourhood watch programs; presenting crime prevention and safety seminars; and answering as many of the public’s questions as possible.
If you’re interested in helping out and can volunteer a few hours a week be sure to contact the Kitsilano Crime Prevention Office at Firehall #12 (2460 Balaclava Street) or 604-408-8844.
