When stores/restaurants on Kits’ main shopping arteries close, we receive many concerned user emails. Here’s a post to inspire reader confidence. Two of the neighbourhood’s favourite foodie destinations are doing so well they’ve expanded.
The perpetually-booked La Quercia recently opened a sister restaurant, La Pentola, in Yaletown’s Opus Hotel (350 Davie St.). The cuisine is Northern Italian with Pegg and Syme’s usual focus on handmade pasta and custom “nose to tail” meat and fish dishes. The restaurant is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Meanwhile chocolate confection queen Rachel Sawatzky of CocoaNymph is opening a second location, CocoaNymph East, just off of Main Street at 4 West 7th Street. In addition to the usual irresistible selection of sweets, the new location will have a brunch and lunch menu featuring stuffed French toast, daily soups, and panini made from local charcuterie and cheeses.
“We went big with the new space,” says Rachel. “From our tiny 120 square foot kitchen to 1200 square feet of chocolatey goodness, our new home is bright and open.”
The grand opening, 11am-7pm, Sept. 22, will be fun for the whole family with opportunities to taste, tour the production facility and enjoy live music. RSVP here.
