Kitsilano neighbourhood is seeing a growth in the number of laneway houses going up in our fair alleyways.  Laneway houses are a way to get out of living in the basement suite in neighbourhoods with a high proportion of single family homes. They’re favoured by the City of Vancouver because they’re green and they create diverse housing opportunities without ruining streetscapes.

If you’re considering building a laneway home, first check out Homes and Living’s cutting-edge laneway home being unveiled and auctioned for charity at Interior Design Show West (IDSWest) on September 21.

Designed by Gaile Guevara of Modern604 and built by Alair Homes, the 516ft laneway home offers a sophisticated, contemporary take on small space living. The value of the laneway home currently exceeds $500,000 in donated design, engineering and building services and you have the opportunity to buy it with the proceeds going to a good cause.

You can view the laneway home during IDSWest at the Vancouver Convention Centre West, September 20-22 and bid in the auction at 5:15pm on Saturday, September 21 with 100 per cent of the net proceeds being donated to the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

Auction Details:

Preview: Friday September 20, 4-9pm and Saturday September 21, 10am-5pm

Auction Date & Time: Saturday September 21, World Alzheimer’s Day at 5:15pm

All bidders must pre-register. You can bid live on site or bid online.

The Interior Design Show West (IDSwest) is Western Canada’s premiere residential design show.  Even if you’re not in the market for a laneway home, it’s still well worth attending to check out the latest home and lifestyle products and services.

Over 70,000 British Columbians have Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia and are among 35 million people living worldwide with this incurable disease. Funds raised from the auction will support education programs and services for those impacted by dementia in B.C. and research for a cure.

  1. Very nice information about the design of the newly located house and this is also fine to raising funds for reducing the rate of diseases and illiteracy rate in the British Columbia.West Vancouver Homes
