This year the BC Family Day statutory holiday is on Monday, February 10. If you get the chance to have the day off, check out some of these free Family Day events around town.
5 Free BC Family Day Events
1. Rainforest Adventures
Head out to your local rainforest park for a Family Day Campfire at the Pacific Spirit Regional Park this Family Day from 1pm-4pm for forest tales, sing-along songs, and, of course, marshmallow roasting! Free admission for the whole family, all ages welcome. Meet at the park centre on 16th Avenue, 400 m west of Blanca Street.
2. Family Playtime
The Kitsilano Community Centre will have a variety of active play opportunities for the whole family on Monday from 10am-12pm, while the West Point Grey Community Centre will have a full morning of activities planned for Family Day including Zumba classes for all ages (9am-10am), a bouncy castle (10:30am-12:30pm), music, pottery lessons, and an interactive video installation by Loco Moto. Refreshments will be offered too. Admission is free for everyone at both centres.
3. Arts & Crafts
To celebrate the second province-wide Family Day, the Vancouver Art Gallery will host a whole day of family activities which will include live music, art activities, and goodie bags. Free admission for children aged 12 and under. Admission for adults is only $10 for the entire month of February and that includes a free Emily Carr print.
4. Ice Skating
The Robson Square Ice Rink will offer free skate rentals, free hot chocolate, and free entertainment for the whole family on Family Day this year. Dress up warm as the forecast calls for a frosty, perhaps even snowy day on Monday!
5. Swim & Skate
Enjoy free indoor swimming in the 25 metre heated pool (there’s a slide, hot tub, and sauna too) plus ice skating in the indoor ice rink at the Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre in North Vancouver from 9:30am-3:00pm on Family Day.
Have fun!
