Donate Sweaters to Vancouverites in Need at West 4th Businesses through Feb. 8

1845

sweaterThere’s a cold snap and those who live on the Downtown Eastside could use any sweaters, scarves, toques, gloves and warm socks you aren’t using in your closet. 14 West 4th merchants (see list below) are collecting these items as part of Turn Down the Heat Week in BC now thru this Saturday, February 8.

Tuesdays Dry Cleaners will clean your donations and then donate them to First United Church Community Ministry Society. First United will circulate all the clothing collected to those less fortunate on the Downtown Eastside.

FIRST UNITED CHURCH COMMUNITY MINISTRY SOCIETY has been active in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside since 1892. Working in the realms of advocacy, hospitality, housing and healing, First United Church provides a warm and welcoming community space for homeless and marginalized people to call their own. This donation of cold weather clothing will go a long way towards supporting the health, comfort, and dignity of Downtown Eastside community members – including victims of theft, women fleeing violence, and people living outside or in substandard housing.
