We may be known for our coffee shops and yoga studios, but Kits is also home to a pretty great selection of bars, pubs, and patios. I tend to stay close to home on my nights out and I’m restricted by the budget of a writer, which means I’m well versed in the drink specials in our neighbourhood.

Here are some of my favourite spots and their best deals. I’ve got you covered for every night of the week.

A Week in Drink Specials in Kitsilano

Monday at Corduroy
This is my favourite bar in Kits. It’s comfortable, has great music and good service, a delicious menu, and awesome daily specials. Not to mention the fact that there’s something fun going on almost every night. Monday is the Rock-Paper-Scissors Throwdown Tourney, with $4 highballs and pints of lager. It starts at 10pm and sells out fast, so I recommend going a little early and indulging in their chorizo pizza beforehand.

Tuesday at Elwood’s
Wine? I’m there. $10 off? I’m definitely there. Every Tuesday Elwood’s offers $10 off any bottle of wine, which is a perk considering I’d hit up this bar regardless of any daily deals. It transitions seamlessly from a great spot to enjoy a patio lunch to the place to be when the sun goes down. Go on a Tuesday for the cheap wine, but try it on a weekend too. It’s the perfect relaxed night out.

Wednesday at The King’s Head
I love the Kings Head any night of the week. (And even sometimes in the morning – the Beggars Brunch is just $5 and really hits the spot on the weekend.) But Wednesday is my favourite because there’s live music, wings (ten different flavours), and $14 pitchers. What more could you ask for?

Thursday at The Fringe
This is the oldest bar on West Broadway and it’s lasted this long for a reason. In a neighbourhood like Kits, it is admittedly tough to find a dive bar, but The Fringe comes pretty close. Everybody wants a laidback local, and this is it. The daily draught specials are a nice touch too. On Thursdays, a sleeve of Russell Cream Ale is $3.99.

Friday at Coppertank
On Fridays Coppertank has Triple Long Island Iced Teas on special for $9.99. They are deadly and delicious. I don’t even need to tell you that their house band, Even Handed Odds, also performs every Friday at 9pm and the nachos (which have stood the test of time – my parents reminisce about them) are on special too.

Saturday at The Regal Beagle
Double caesars, double highballs, and Red Truck Lager are all on special at The Beagle on Saturday. They also offer an extensive menu that takes bar food to the next level (please try the jerk pork poutine). This is the Kitsilano version of a sports bar and I definitely recommend checking it out.

Sunday at Local
Local is one of my go-tos for a couple of reasons. You can usually find me there throughout the week devouring the delicious nachos and enjoying a glass of $4 mystery wine. They have daily specials that are all fantastic, but this is definitely the place to be on a Sunday. With a decent brunch menu and gorgeous patio, Local is the perfect spot to nurse a hangover and wile away a lazy morning. And on Recovery Room Sundays, the infamous El Caesar in a boot is on special.
