If the rather hefty admission price ($15.25-$25.50) has stopped you from visiting Science World, now’s the time to head on over. It’s the kick-off weekend for Around the Dome Science Festival, a a month-long science festival that celebrates all of the amazing science and technology here in our community.

The science festival is being launched with a family-friendly Community Science Celebration that’s FREE for everyone. Thanks to support from Genome British Columbia and BC Hydro, admission to Science World at TELUS World of Science for the Community Science Celebration this coming Saturday and Sunday (September 27 and 28) is FREE! During the Community Science Celebration, local businesses, organisations and innovators will be profiled, so that we can share and experience the innovation in science and technology that exists right in our own backyard.

Science is all around us. It’s in the puddles of rain water on the street. It’s why orange juice tastes funny right after you brush your teeth. It’s galaxies, guitars, gravity and granola. Science is everywhere!

“This is our third year of presenting this amazing month-long science festival,” says Science World President and CEO Bryan Tisdall. “Thanks to Genome British Columbia and BC Hydro, we are able to kick off the festival with a free weekend, which will provide us with an opportunity to engage even more visitors with science and technology that’s happening right in our own backyards.”

Make sure to check out our other fun-filled weekends and events such as:

Meet A Scientist— Iron Scientist Competition, meet scientists, researchers and other professionals

Water Education Weekend —Where does your water come from and where does it go after you use it?

Meet a First Responder—meet police, firefighters and paramedics and discover the science they use

Science World encourages guests to take public transit and help reduce the community’s carbon footprint.
