Besides watching the 87th Academy Awards this Sunday night, what other plans do you have for this sunny weekend? We’ve rounded up 5 fun free events happening in Vancouver starting this Thursday through Sunday so take your pick and enjoy!

5 Fun Free Events in Vancouver this Weekend

 

1. Winterruption 2015 Festival – Thursday, February 19th to Sunday, February 22nd.
This annual Granville Island art festival is great for the whole family. Expect some brilliant live jazz, documentary films, art installations including a huge outdoor mural, plus a special Kids Zone with acrobats, crafts, and more. Many of these events are free, some require tickets. Check the website for exact schedule and hours.

2. Lunar Fest – Friday, February 20th to Sunday, February 22nd.
Lunar New Year celebrations are a significant event across a multitude of cultures, but East Asian celebrations are amongst the best known. Put on your loveliest red clothing and join in on bringing in the Year of the Sheep. Explore Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese new year traditions, from dragon dancing to fortune telling, dumpling-tasting and more at the Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza. Free admission. Hours are from 11am-7pm (6pm on Sunday).

3. Winter Farmers Market – Saturday, February 21st (runs every Saturday until April 25th).
Have brunch or lunch at the Winter Farmers Market at Nat Bailey Stadium with about a dozen food trucks to choose from. While there, pick up some new potatoes, crunchy carrots, fresh happy eggs, and much more. For the little ones, there’s a playground across the street and there are benches for parents to sit on to enjoy their food. Free admission. Hours are 10am-2pm.

4. Jericho Beach Cleanup – Saturday, February 21st.
Organized by the Surfrider Foundation Vancouver Chapter, this second annual beach cleanup is happening at Jericho and they need your help! Meet new friends, feel good about cleaning up where you play, and perhaps become a Surfrider member. Please remember to pack a pair of work gloves and a reusable mug so they can keep their cleanups waste free. Free of course! Hours are 11am-1pm.

5. Vancouver Chinese New Year Parade 2015 – Sunday, February 22nd.
