It’s not just cherry blossoms that bloom in spring; it’s also a time to grow your neighbourhood! Get to know your community at Kitsilano Neighbourhood House, “that place” on the corner of 7th and Vine that you’ve probably strolled by a million times. We provide programs and services for people of all ages and abilities, with an emphasis on strengthening our community through our core principles of leadership, collaboration, and opportunity.

Join us at any of the events listed below, or just stop in on a weekday and say hello!

Drop-in Meditation: Everyone Welcome! Come join staff and community members at Kitsilano Neighbourhood House to share some moments of stillness and reflection in the middle of your day. Sessions will include guided meditation sitting, inspirational reading, rotating leadership and a quiet sacred space to just “be”. 2325 West 7th Ave, 12:30-1 pm on Wednesdays. Community Potluck: In Celebration of Youth Week (May 1st-7th) the Youth Advisory Group at Kitsilano Neighbourhood House will be hosting an event titled the “YOUTH TALENT EXTRAVAGANZA!” on Wednesday May 6th from 6-8pm. The event will be a community potluck (please bring a vegetarian dish to share) and will showcase a variety of youth performers from the local community. The event will be held in the hall at Kitsilano Neighbourhood House at 2325 West 7th, located on the corner of 7th and Vine. The Westside Youth Networking Table will be meeting at Kitshouse Neighbourhood House (2325 West 7th, on the corner of 7th and Vine) on Wednesday, May 27th from 1:30-3:00pm. This group meets 3-4 times a year and brings together a diverse group of youth and youth service providers from a variety of schools, community agencies, municipal & government services, faith organizations, health care providers and local businesses that are passionate about supporting youth! The Westside Youth Networking Table works together to identify and support the needs of youth on the Westside – by sharing information, resources, and best practices. The Westside Youth Networking Table works to raise community awareness and increase the profile of youth and services on the Westside. Souped-up Jazz: Join us for our weekly “Toonie Tuesday” seniors lunch event at Kitsilano Neighbourhood House (2325 West 7th Ave)! This Tuesday, May 5, from 11am – 1pm, entertainment will be provided by the Jazz Plus Trio. Just $4 includes soup and refreshments, in addition to the concert. Finding Home Dialogues for Seniors, by Jessie Sutherland of the Justice Institute: Finding Home Seniors Dialogues begin by exploring why home and sense of belonging matters. Whether you are moving into assisted living or staying in your home, there is a yearning amongst seniors for meaning, purpose and belonging – a sense of home. Preschool Spots Still Available: Kitsilano Neighbourhood House Community Preschool, located near 4th & Alma, is having an OPEN HOUSE Wednesday May 13, 2009 from 4:30-6:00.
