A heat wave expected for Vancouver this weekend has prompted a special weather statement from Environment Canada.
Temperatures will peak this weekend with maximums of at least 32°C expected in areas away from the water.
“Well now that we’re officially into summer, certainly it will feel like summer these next few days,” said Global BC meteorologist Mark Madryga.
“Yesterday was pleasantly warm. Today will be warmer and [it’s going to be] downright hot weather on the weekend, all across southern and central B.C. If you’re away from the ocean, high temperatures Saturday and Sunday will reach the low 30s and that will approach record highs for the date.”
Environment Canada says temperatures will begin to moderate on Monday as an onshore flow of cooler, marine air develops.
