Friday, October 6th
Just a few minutes west of our neighbourhood, the Museum of Anthropology is hosting Experimental Ink – a special show featuring live performances, music, and calligraphy by acclaimed artists from Taiwan and Japan. All the galleries at the museum will be open for viewing, and refreshments will be served at the cash bar in the lobby before the show. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show is on from 8:30pm till 10pm. Tickets cost $25.

Saturday, October 7th
Pick up your turkey and other ingredients for that magnificent feast you’ll be preparing for Monday, or have someone do all the cooking for you and head out for a Thanksgiving dinner tonight instead. Or just forget the whole big dinner thing and the fact that it is in fact, October, and head to La Glace for an amazing (and quite substantial) ice cream cone. Try the Peppered Pumpkin accented with cracked black pepper and cinnamon, and topped with a pumpkin spice meringue.

Sunday, October 8th
The Kitsilano Farmers Market is on for just a few more weeks so be sure to stock up on local produce while you can. Apples, pears, and plums are perfect and ready for baking into pies, or dehydrate them to enjoy later in the winter months. Be like a squirrel and pick up chestnuts, hazelnuts, and walnuts at the market as well. And, of course, now is the time to get those pumpkins and other winter squashes. Be sure to visit the Spread’Em and Odd Society Spirits booths, too.
