On these cool, crisp days you may be tempted to reach for comfort foods that are probably loaded with delicious and satisfying carbohydrates. But…if you plan on keeping trim and fit through the colder months you may want to go easy on the pizza, pasta, and fluffy soft buns.
Here are a few dinner options in Kitsilano that will placate your cravings quite well.
Craving a Burger?
Eat it in or order delivery for one of Romer’s Bunless Burger Bowls. You get to choose any one of Romer’s burger options but they’ll drop the bun for you and make it extra protein-rich. It’s served on crisp iceberg lettuce with tomato, avocado, sliced hard boiled egg, yams, black beans, corn, and mustard vinaigrette. Or try one of their vegetarian Power Bowls loaded with fresh seasonal vegetables and packed with plant protein.
Craving Something Spicy?
Banana Leaf on West Broadway has great Satay Skewers in your choice of marinated chicken, pork, lamb, or beef, and it’s always served with a spicy house-made peanut dip. Or try the Gulai Seafood dish, with scallops, prawns, fish, mussels, clams, and squid, and simmered in a spicy coconut sauce.
Craving Sushi?
Forget the maki rolls with all that rice. Go for the pure and simple, melt-in-your-mouth tuna and wild salmon sashimi, or a combination of fresh seafood on offer that day. There are a ton of Japanese restaurants in Kitsilano, but have a go at newly re-opened Yuwa on West 16th Avenue, tiny and intimate Yuji’s on Alma Street, or sake hot-spot Raisu on West 4th Avenue.
