Join some of Vancouver’s cutting-edge archivists for a panel discussion – Archiving Activism, at the Museum of Vancouver tonight from 7pm till 9pm. Tickets cost $19 and include admission to the museum. This lively discussion will cover archiving techniques, why archiving and documenting is important to cultural and political movements, and a question and answer period.

Friday, December 8th
It’s Friday night so head on out to Chewies Steam & Oyster Bar on West 1st Avenue for their happy hour from 5pm till 7pm. The happy hour menu features $1.50 beach oysters, $2.25 premium oysters, specials on appies (calamari, fries, wings, and more), BC craft beer for $5/pint, boutique wine for $6/glass, and American Whiskey for $5/shot.

Saturday, December 9th
The Rogue Folk Club presents Cool Yule with Van Django and Special Guests at the St James Hall on West 10th Avenue tonight. This will be a variety show with festive holiday music, nostalgic favourites, jazz, pop, classical songs, sing-alongs, and a few surprises. Joining Van Django’s violinist Cameron Wilson, guitarist Budge Schachte, guitarist/cellist Finn Manniche, and bassist Brent Gubbels are harmonica virtuoso Keith Bennett and stellar vocalist L.J. Mounteney. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $26 and this show is for all ages.

Sunday, December 10th
Join professional cook, artisan pasta maker, and actor Peter Ciuffa (from Pasta Boy Peter) at the Hands on Gnocchi Making workshop at the Kitsilano Community Centre today from 11:30am till 2pm. The cost is $85 and includes ingredients, equipment, samples, and a meal for two to take home with you. All ages are welcome. Registration is required.
