Kitsilano landmark Bimini’s Public House is for sale.
The listing on Restaurant Business Broker tells most of the story – 213 seats over 5,242 sq ft on 3 levels, 2 fully equipped bars, lounge area dedicated to games with pool tables and pinball games, dark millwork throughout, and a Liquor Primary License.
Long-time Kitsilano residents will recall that Bimini’s was destroyed by fire in 2007, sat vacant for years, and then was reopened by Jeff Donnelly in 2011 (pictured).
But here are a couple facts that you likely don not know about Bimini’s:
- Before the building at 2010 West 4th was turned into a pub it had long been the home of the Fourth Avenue Heating and Plumbing Works.
- At one time the space had been used to build sailing boats that could be launched into the waters of nearby English Bay.
- The Doobie Brothers once visited when in town on tour and the doorman didn’t recognize them and made them wait in line.
- The first building on the site had a tall ceiling and an open interior for a reason – it was the Fairview Baptist Church.
