Kits Beach to get Accessible Playground

1040

Thanks to the $1.2 Million 2010 Olympic legacy project, three accessible playgrounds for disabled children will be built in Richmond, Vancouver and Whistler. The Vancouver playground will be located at Kits Beach.

The Richmond playground and 60 per cent of the Whistler facility will be completed in time for the 2010 Games and the Kitsilano Beach Park playground will be finished by the summer of 2010.

The B.C. government contributed $750,000 to the project, while McDonald’s Restaurants contributed $300,000 and the Rick Hansen Foundation’s Let’s Play Project provided $150,000. Richmond, Vancouver and Whistler all provided the land and will oversee the building and maintenance of the playgrounds.
