How you like them apples?

Well… at $2.99 a pound, not so much.

I spend most of my time at work compiling spreadsheets, I did not expect myself to start constructing them in my free time, but it seems as though this is what it has come to. I am not kidding. How else are you supposed to remember which store offers the cheapest humus, or the best priced salad box with the expiration date that is furthest away from today? And how do you compare buying the chips and salsa directly from Fresh is Best, when they give you a ‘buy 20 items and get one salsa for free’ card, with Capers selling ‘all yellow corn’ Fresh is Best chips on special? Am I the only one who finds it hard to keep on top of all of this?

When so many grocery and specialty stores are located in such a small radius it doesn’t seem too absurd to stop into multiple shops while you’re out.

I often wonder, does anyone else spend as much time freshness/ best-price hunting as I do? Perhaps it is harking back to a more primitive time, where one actually did have to hunt and gather their food. Haha, not quite. But could you please let me know where the best bang for my buck plum tomatoes are located?

When I have time I check out different food stores Yes, some are definitely overpriced.

I find the price spread between Apple Market on 4th and their sister store on Broadway to be quite interesting, check it out sometime.

Ha! Whenever I leave the area I try take a route that will get me near a Kin’s Market so I can take advantage of whatever they have on special! Yes, I will go to more than one store looking for a bargain.

Great! Thanks for the suggestions. Pre-pancake making this morning I checked out Apple Market= big savings on syrup! hehe

Tim’s Fresh Produce on Broadway and MacDonald definitely has the most consistent low price/fresh product value, and the friendliest staff.

Until last month, the Kits farmers market had both the freshest and the cheapest organic produce. Now you have to trek over to WISE hall in East Van. It’s still worth it though, especially if you’re buying pricier items such as meat and fish.

Failing that, I’ll second megan’s vote for Tim’s on Broadway and MacDonald.
