February 2010 marks the 5th Anniversary of Kitsilano.ca – it’s hard to believe we’ve been blogging about the neighbourhood for that long.
1204 blog posts later (and 2291 comments on those blog posts) and we’re still going strong.
To celebrate the milestone, you may have noticed that we’ve launched a new design (thanks to Christine at Bluelime Media) that incorporates some cool new features:
Dynamic banner images – We now have unique photos of Kitsilano rotating in the top banner and want our readers to submit their favorite images of Kits to be considered for inclusion. Simply upload your photos to Flickr and tag them with ‘kitsilanoca’ and you may see them on the site with a link back to you. Look for the “Submit Your Photo” link in the top banner for more information.
A Facebook Page – Kitisilano.ca now has it’s very own Facebook page and we want you to join us there as well. We’ll be republishing our blog posts within Facebook and hope to engage with Kitsilano fans and get a little conversation going in the process. Look for the Facebook icon on the top of the site to go directly to our Facebook page.
New advertising options – In addition to our standard banner advertising options, we’ve added a membership option as well. For $200 per year, we’ll build a complete public profile page on Kitsilano.ca and list these member pages with the highest priority in either the EAT or SHOP sections of the site. Members will have complete administrative access to their profile pages and will be encouraged to use them to promote discounts and specials for Kitsilano.ca readers. New Content and more contributors – A number of new blog contributors have expressed interest in writing and we have some great new content features planned for the site including a weekly review of unique wines available in Kitsilano. If you’re interested in writing for Kitsilano.ca, please get in touch.
As always Kitsilano.ca will continue to be active on Twitter and we encourage you to follow us there as well as subscribe to our daily email digests. A direct link to our Twitter account and the email subscribe box can be found in the top right hand corner.
To celebrate our 5th anniversary we’ll be running a number of contests on the site with prizes including restaurant gift certificates, photography packages, and fitness packages.
