In 1991 Canuck legend Trevor Linden bought his first home in Vancouver at Kits Point – a duplex that he stills owns. In 2002, when he returned to the Canucks Linden bought an oceanfront house on Point Grey Road when he lives today with his wife. Linden has an affinity for Kits.
With his recent foray into the world of fitness with Club 16 – Trevor Linden Fitness with his first location in Coquitlam, some Kits residents are wondering when he’ll be setting up shop in Kitsilano. The recent Kitsilano Workout fiasco has accelerated these questions and has some wondering on Twitter if he might be interested in the old Kitsilano Workout location on West 4th Avenue.
With a tight connection to fitness industry veteran Chuck Lawson of She’s Fit! Health Clubs, chances are any Kitsilano endeavor is going to be aligned with Lawson’s women’s health club on York Avenue but Canuck fans can dream.

Before I joined another gym, my roomate and I talked to the property manager and some of the tenants in the building and apparently there is a bank going into the building. One of the conditions of the lease is that there will be no gym there, as the other tenants have constantly complained about the noise of endless dropping of weights and jumping from the aerobics classes. Also his plan is to develop the 3rd floor into offices and luxury condo’s. That’s the final decision.
And by the way I discovered an extra charge for October on my credit card. I called Visa and they are investigating.
@Gwen: I would check your sources. That is simply not true. There are no plans for the space as of yet. You must be the same Gwen that is spreading misinformation in the other threads as well.
I have spoken with the property manager and there is no plans for the space. Kits workout went under and the property is back in the hands of the property managers. A bank on the second/third floor over shops? Security nightmare!
Gwen is correct folks, the building development application was completed and initial surveys done years ago. The owner is just waiting for the ideal time. The gyms lease was up so that would have more to do with them not coming to terms.
Gwen, you’re the person who posted the positive review of RZ from the same IP address as the next poster. So what you’re trying to do is transparent (RZ, you need to spend more money on hiring some smarter minions…maybe use the money you’re paying that lawyer with). Bdun, I’m not sure where you’re getting your info from, care to comment?
” The landlord’s rep from Westbank has told me that the previous owners have told them that they are going to post an “Intent to File” for bankruptcy.
The landlord has taken pains to communicate to me and have the membership know and understand that the owners of Kit’s Workout pulled the plug—Westbank had nothing to do with it. In fact, the landlord wanted the owners to stick to their contract and make cosmetic improvements as required by the lease (paint, linoleum, upgrade the carpets), all of which they refused to do. The landlord also denies one of the main rumours—that condos are to built there, imminently. I have heard from several sources that there are at least two groups interested in taking over the space in order to run a gym there.
Hello,
If you have any info about a ‘fitness club’ re-opening here at Kits Workout, please let me know.
I really enjoyed going to Kits Workout, I had no problem with staff, or equipment. I really miss the class’es by Norm, and Gail.
Please let me know if I can go back there, I do not want to join anywhere else.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Katie
Well it would be a shame if Kits Workout was bought by the She’s Fit gang because they are too cheap with instructors. They pay bottom dollar, below all others.
I’m really hoping that kits workout gets picked up by either Spartacus Athletic club, (because they are a serious club packed all the time with great classes), or by Steve Nash and his gang.
Instructors and trainers spend so much on ongoing education, training, books, specialized music, clothing, conferences, annual re-certification, first aid, cpr etc. They use countless personal hours practicing planning and keeping up to the minute on diet, nutrition and fitness. They often drive 1/2 hour through traffic each way to teach for 1 hour, and are expected to talk to members after class and manage equipment etc. So when I see clubs that try to lowball on fees it is totally irksome.

Wow I hope that the Steve Nash gang or the She’s Fit gang aren’t going into Kits Workout – She’s Fit especially is really low end.
Wouldn’t it be great if Barb, who used to own Fitness Group, decided to revive Fitness Group and went in there?
SS
It was a loss. If anyone has any positive news about the location, please let me know. It would be great for another GYM to take over.
