The Kitsilano Community Centre holds many classes throughout the year, and they have a wide variety of subjects to appeal to many interests. I was pleased to be teaching a beginner’s drawing course during their winter session from January – March, and am glad to say that it was a great success. The class was full with 8 students who were all beginners with varying levels of experience. Seeing their progress and their individual styles emerge over 8 weeks was fascinating and I was lucky to have wonderful feedback from them.
Since this was such a good experience, I will be teaching another beginners drawing class as well as a pen and ink class at the Kits Community Centre starting in April. The drawing class will be on Tuesday nights again, from 6:30-9:30pm, running from April 5th to May 31. Students will learn how to draw what they see, using a classical realism approach. Absolute beginners are welcome, as well as those looking to refresh their skills. The pen and ink class is on Monday nights from 6:30-9:30pm, starting April 4th and running to May 16 (6 classes, no class April 25th) and in that course, we will explore drawing and painting in tones with pen and ink. Some drawing experience is recommended.
To register for the courses, please call the Kits Community Centre at 604-257-6976 or register online. Registration begins March 16th.
