The public is invited to a free skin cancer screening and sun awareness event at Kitsilano Beach on Sunday June 1st from 11am to 2pm. The event, co-hosted by the Canadian Dermatology Association and the Canadian Cancer Society BC & Yukon Division, is part of National Sun Awareness Week. The screening will happen rain or shine as it will be relocated to the Vancouver Aquatic Centre, Beach Avenue, in case of inclement weather.
This year’s focus is on sun safety during outdoor sport and recreation. People involved in these activities are urged to come and have a free skin check and find out how to be sun protected during outdoor fitness activities. Those worried about spots or moles on their skin, or who have had a lot of sun exposure through outdoor work or recreational activities, are also encouraged to come down for a free, private screening.
